Giving Community on Giving Tuesday

This year, it has been clearer than ever just how important our neighbors are to our lives. Many of us have been physically separated from our friends, co-workers, and neighbors for most of the year, which is why we believe that it is more important than ever to support everyone in our community on this Giving Tuesday.

As more than 12 million people in the US struggle with job loss amid health concerns this year, bills continue to pile up, which is why we believe that it is important to do everything we can to empower our neighbors through the work we do at Groundswell.

Groundswell’s mission is to build community power — in the many senses of the word. We work with people in the communities we serve to provide equitable access to clean energy, reduce energy burdens, create local jobs through the projects we build, magnify voices in underserved communities, foster resilience, and research ways that we can all work together to create more equitable clean energy futures.

This year, Groundswell has served more than 3,700 income-qualified customers with more than $1.7 million in annual clean energy savings, energized  350 kW of new community solar projects, readied nearly 2 MW of new community solar projects for construction next year, and rolled out a groundbreaking new energy efficiency program that’s reducing energy burdens for small town residents in the rural South. At the same time, our team has led research and worked with partners to design programs that work for working families. We have also worked to bridge the gap between corporate sustainability goals and community needs and worked with communities to foster resilience through solar, storage, and microgrid projects in Atlanta and Baltimore.

This work is having an immediate and visible impact on the communities we serve, but we are just getting started.

Our community solar subscribers are essential to our service to the community, and we encourage you to sign up for community solar if you live in one of our service areas. However, we all need to work together to create an equitable clean energy future — not just ourselves but for our friends and neighbors.

This Giving Tuesday, please help build a more equitable clean energy future through a donation to Groundswell.
